DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTIONS REVIEW

Here’s my next Video Game review which I will be ranting about a lot and to just get straight to the point on my thoughts for this. Since first seeing the extended trailer on this game a good year ago I was pretty much hyped for what I believed would be a terrific masterpiece. However, upon playing and completing it several times I have gotten my thoughts together to now say that Deus Ex is anything but perfect.

In the simplest of ways I can describe this, it would be this. Deus Ex Human Revolutions is a predictable, cliché, overrated, unoriginal, repetitive, boring pile of crap that is made out to be something worthwhile when in reality it isn’t. Believe me when I say I did try to enjoy myself. I had a blast playing through the first half of this game but by the time it gets to the second-half the game just repeats itself and the story goes downhill, not delivering on something spectacular and right there is another major compliant that has haunted me for many games I have played this year.

The final and ending never deliver. Every single time I’ve played something that starts of good and delivers on an amazing halfway point it starts to decline nearing the end and this game is no different. However, where those games were still fun to replay this game just felt the same to me.

It is meant to be a game that offers choice on how you progress but the truth is the choices in the game don’t hold too much consequence on later events. A better example would be that the choices you take throughout the game will not effect the ending because once you get to the very end the Player themselves get to pick one of four endings to the game and even then all the endings are the same thing with just different lines of dialogue been said.

The Player can decide whether to play through it using Stealth or go in Guns Blazing or both. However, the way the game has been designed along with whether one chooses the Harder Difficultly setting make it very clear from the beginning that this is a game that is meant to purely be played using Stealth and while that can be fun and challenging it eventually gets boring very quickly. This isn’t like Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid but a First Person Shooter with RPG elements thrown into it. One shouldn’t be forced to rely on this aspect of the Gameplay so much.

The RPG elements I speak of basically include the Gameplay chooses along with the Conversation Battles the Player has with other characters along with the main feature of it that involves upgrading the Main Character and Weapons. With the Weapon Upgrades one has to find them for those specific weapons throughout the game or buy them if they are available. Upgrading the Character is also pretty much the same thing along with also how the player plays the game and uses the gathered XP Points to upgrade them further.

However, the upgrades for the Character, the majority of them are just downright pointless and not needed at all. You upgrade a Augment that is meant to make you run faster but you run a second longer where if one upgrades the Lung/Chest Augment including the one for running fast then makes the Player go seconds longer. Then there are upgrades such as checking what a Computer Node contains when hacking it or whether it will make the character detectable but that upgrade is overly pointless because the Player will be hacking away anyway even if they are detected and it won’t matter what the Nodes contain because the aim of the hack is to get them anyway to access the console itself and receive the XP points that come with it. Unless the Player isn’t bothered about collecting Experience Points they won’t be ignoring hacking as it is a big part of the Gameplay and collecting enough points to gain access to the next Upgrade Point is a heavy part of it all.

The visuals and graphics for this game and the amount of detail that has managed to be crammed in is one of the positives aspects of the game. That the obvious colour scheme of black and yellow they have gone with for this give it a simple unique look not any other game of this generation has. The game almost gives off a Blade Runner atmosphere and if Blade Runner was a game then this is what it would closely resemble. It isn’t some of the best graphic seen in a game but for what it is and tries to achieve with it in terms of narrative it works every well.

But the Narrative of the game is a whole different story and the major negativity I have for it. When I said predictable and cliché I meant it. From the moment the game starts the game holds no real surprises and obvious sci-fi clichés are thrown into the mix. None of the characters in this game can be invested into. All of them from the get-go are suspect able of been the major villains or dodgy people who knows things. The only likable characters whom get any sort of development is the annoying Computer Geek everybody hates and supporting female pilot character.

The Main Character himself, Adam Jensen, as cool as his voice is, is just so damn cold. There is no emotion to him whatsoever. He is involved in a accident that forces him to be Augmented but never once do we see him recover from it. The game starts with a tutorial then skips 6 months later. I remember the Trailer showing scenes of him in his home with bandages and drinking a glass of scotch with the glass slightly breaking from the pressure of his metal hand.

Video Game characters that have touched my heart and made me think about my own problems and overlook life, that have somewhat guided my hand and emotionally affected me made me remember them forever as my childhood or teenage heroes.

Adam Jensen is so distant, so cold, ruthless that no matter what he says or does never made me fully emotionally invested in him. All he did was been dark and uncaring about everything. Maybe it was the way the Voice Actor played him because at the points in the game where his meant to be emotionally it just doesn’t come out.

The Story itself while interesting which explores the future of people dealing with robotics and choosing to be Augmented by having body parts replaced with machine to help improve life while having a opposing group that feels it is wrong and dangerous is a interesting narrative to explore but the game’s obvious plot-twists or undeveloped plot-points involving Jensen and his little unknown secret are never touched upon or made a heavy impact of.

The Boss Battles in the game are also an annoyance. Playing a game where much of the main focus is been able to dodge a fight or killing someone, the Boss Battles are your typical Run and Gun. They feel forced and at times too difficult or way too easy. The Final Two Bosses of the game are a joke and can’t even be considered Bosses even on the harder difficulty setting. Add the fact that these enemies have no development whatsoever and it again is another annoyance to this game. One of the characters never even speaks.

Like the Hero I want to be invested in the Villains. I want to know their reasons for doing what they’re doing even if the motives are the typical Hollywood cliché of world domination, controlling the mass public or doing things for their own selfish reasons but here it is never made clear who they are and why are doing what they are doing, their pasts never revealed.

Overall this game fails to deliver on something unique and the Gameplay is something seen many times and is nothing new. Yes the ways its been designed allows the Player to play through a level in many different ways and ending it with slight different outcomes but in the end it does nothing surprising or new.

Seeing the same animation when attacking someone or when jumping down becomes very stale and one stupidity of this is that there is no Melee Attack. In my personal opinion this game should have had the Melee Combat of Mirror’s Edge implanted into it because for a guy who should be able to do amazing feats he just feels like a rock waiting to be moved and that would also be the best way to describe the characters personality. A Rock.

In Conclusion Deus Ex offers nothing in Video Games that we all haven’t seen before with a cast of characters who are as uninspired as the people who made it along with a plot that never manages to achieve anything in the end. It shocks me that this game has gotten a lot of praise but this is one of those games so overrated that people fail to grasp what it means to create something cinematic on a visual and emotional level. Everything the Trailer was, this wasn't and it failed to deliver. In terms of Gameplay one can still enjoy themselves but eventually it will become too repetitive and the game will feel like a chore, going around trying to complete one task after another.

I give this a score of…6/10

RESISTANCE 3 REVIEW

Here is yours truly bringing you another critical opinion of the latest Playstation 3 Exclusion and forth entry of Insomniac’s shooter franchise, Resistance 3. First is first, let’s get the positives of the game out of the way.

GRAPHIC wise the game is a much bigger improvement the last ones. There is a fine detail to the way the characters and environments are presented. The main character Joseph ‘Joe’ Capelli looks a lot more different from his previous counterpart but the visuals of old age are shown here. That and the overall cast of characters in the game look almost real-like compared to the last ones but still with that artistic and cartoonist feel to them.

Examples of levels in the campaign showcasing the vast improvement include the first few levels including the Boat Ride Mission first shown in the trailers. The way the developers have managed to make it feel like the Player is there in the midst of the action happening around them, such as travelling through the fog and the sound of giant Goliath Robots making their presence known, their outlines and figures emerging from the windy, white, mist are views to behold.

Seeing thunder and lighting from the horizons while travelling on Train through wastelands and Forests give that sense of a long journey ahead while also adding in the emotional and creepy factor of loneliness that the narrative of the game brings with it.

The visuals are dark lighted and moody which helps to tell the story of lost hope and the overwhelming odds of possible failure and danger at every turn, something which the previous titles never fully managed to do until now. The presentation is such that it brings with it exactly what it intends to show to the player and overall without it the game wouldn’t be as good without.

The visuals help tell and drive the story forward with each level getting ever darker as the narrative itself goes onto dark territory to make the Player feel as hopeless and lonely as the characters in the game feel, giving it that sense of despair that separates Resistance 3 from its predecessors and other First Person Shooters that try to tell such a story as well.

GAMEPLAY is also a heavy improvement when compared to previous titles. However a downside to it would be that this is the shortest Resistance game yet. But that is expected of First Person Shooters these days, but unlike the current tread of FPS games, Resistance 3 brings with it back a style of the classics.

Regenerative Health is not included in this entry but can be unlocked as a cheat later, which resembles the Regenerative Health of the first Resistance game. With this feature now cut out from the main campaign, not only does it make the overall game unique and makes it stand out from other FPS but also adds in that tension and challenge that comes with it.

Strategy and quick-thinking is now required in order to survive and this is even more true when playing the game on harder difficulties as a few shots will bring a quick death for the Player unless patients and tactics are used to overcome the overwhelming and frustrating odds presented. Not to worry as there are Health Packs scattered throughout the levels but they are to be used with care and caution since Health isn’t fully regenerated when picked up.

This isn’t the only so called ‘classic’ feature to return. Resistance 3 in essence is more of a spiritual successor of the first Resistance. Returning is the fan-demanded Weapon Wheel that was sadly cut from Resistance 2. No more is it required to only carry two weapons like all the current traditional FPS. Now any weapon you pick up will be included in the inventory to use and each weapon brings with its own fun way to kill the Chimera enemies.

As more targets are hit and killed with that selected weapon, the weapon now upgrades, making it stronger, changing the way the secondary fire functions, the overall design changing with it and adding in its own form of melee attack to it. All the weapons in the games have their own unique function and that brings with it the fun replay value of the game.

Elements from Resistance 2 include the Monster Boss Battles, which make a return here. But where Resistance 2’s Bosses were all different, here the game repeats itself with having the fight the same Monster Bosses many times throughout the Campaign as they pop up with only really one big boss making a one-time appearance. But they are fun and chaotic but can get frustrating while having to take down the Boss and dealing with smaller enemies who are firing at you at the same time.

Other previous returns include Co-Op Campaign and sadly a more straight forward and simple version of Multiplayer Online. A more improved version of Resistance 2’s chaotic and 60 player Multiplayer is not included and that is one of the greater flaws of the game. The Campaign and overall Gameplay is different but the Multiplayer is more of the same that other FPS have already. But if that is what people prefer more then one will be right at home with it.

PLOT has the player controlling Joseph Capelli from Resistance 2 who killed the main hero of the game Nathan Hale with a bullet to the head after he finally succumbed to the Chimera Virus and turned into one of them.

Dr. Fyodor Malikov managed to create a cure from Hale’s blood and cured the virus thus in Gameplay terms explaining why there is no Regenerative Health. Joe is dishonourably discharged from SRPA and the Chimera take over planet Earth.

Joe meanwhile meets and marries Susan who is revealed ‘only’ in the tie-in Novel, ‘The Gathering of the Storm’ that she is Nathan Hale’s Foster Sister and this hint of the relation is never brought up in the game which is one of the major flaws considering they could’ve added more weight to Joe’s guilt of having had to kill Hale.

The two live secretly with other survivors in an underground outpost in Haven, Oklahoma with only 10% of the human population still alive and thriving for survival. Four Years Pass and now Joe and Susan have a Four-year old son called Jack.

Eventually their outpost is attacked by Chimera Forces who found it by following Dr. Malikov who has been travelling to locate Joe and to ask him to help him to guide him to New York City to shut of the Chimera Control Tower there which is powering up the Wormhole seen at the end of 2 that leads to the Chimera Homeworld and is also responsible for freezing the Earth over so the Chimera forces can start thriving there.

Malikov explains the human race will not survive the next winter and after some convincing from Susan to Joe that there could be a chance to give Jack a better life, Joe agrees to help Malikov with the plan, travelling across the Mississippi River, St. Louis Missouri, Mount Pleasant Pennsylvania and finally New York City.

The story is simple to understand and enough development is given to Joe and Malikov to show the way their characters have developed between the previous title and what they want to achieve now and what their struggles are. The story itself takes a darker tone towards the halfway point of the game and gets even darker while also presenting the aspect of loneliness despair and the violence humans go through in order to survive.

However, like all current games, the final never meets the standards that the overall game sets. It starts good and once it gets to the middle it only gets better but once it gets to the end it all just falls apart. Resistance 3 is one of those games that manage to deliver in all other departments except for a satisfying and epic final and emotional ending.

FLAWS is something every game has and Resistance 3 is one of those games that manages to do a lot of things but at the same time fails to deliver on other accounts.
Three Years this game I imagine has been in development and its short but sweet but at the same time fails to be something great.

There are points in this game where the playing time could have been extended but instead it’s all looked over in a cutscene or it just skips straight ahead towards the next plot or mission. The Developers could have taken the time to add in more Gameplay and story so as to flesh out some of the support characters whom make appearances only once.

Another negative aspect would include a sequence where the Player is forced to carry an object and run through a warzone without any means of protecting ones self and having to rely on the NPC AI to protect them. The irony is that when the player is actually firing away with other NPCs with them, they don’t do anything. They shoot but it never appears as if the characters can even kill the enemy and in the end it’s always in the hands of the player to do all the hard work. The NPCs are just stand around or run away and don’t provide any sort of crucial aid.

Once the game gets to Mount Pleasant it introduces the religious community and having to rescue the Priest. The whole level of running around in the infected town is pretty much a reference to Half-Life 2s Ravenholm Level. The game continues to pay tribute to Half-Life by adding in the element of having to escape the large giant monster by hiding and running into the smaller tunnels to avoid from killing the player. It isn’t original in anyway but it adds a much-needed element to it that gives off the terror and horror of been alone in the dark and having to fend oneself.

The next few levels go into dark territory as the game presents the darker nature of human survival. But once it gets to New York it all consists of fighting of massive amounts of Chimera forces which majority of the time include picking of snipers and avoiding them. You just go from point A to B fighting off overwhelming enemies, thus making the last levels tiring and repetitive.

It would have been good to have returned the Vehicle sections from the first game and perhaps had the player actually travel to and past he Stature of Liberty and other more famous land marks besides a ruined Washington and Times Square but this never happens. The developers failed to deliver in that department and it is one of the main aspects that made me disappointed in the game’s final moments. That and the lack of a final boss or enemy Capelli has to overcome. And speaking of final moments…

THE END doesn’t answer all the questions such as what the mysterious ‘Grey Tech’ is and what the ‘Pure Chimera’ or who the mysterious ‘Alien Race’ was that defeated the Chimera the first time along with other unanswered questions still waiting to be answered. These are questions that the game itself even brought up but didn’t answer and the truth is it is understandable because the game is centred on Capelli and Malikov’s journey to New York. The story sticks with them and their goal. But failure to answer some of these long awaited questions, considering it’s been three years since the last game it all seems kind of pointless in the end.

Considering that this game pretty much wraps everything up towards the end and answers some questions through its ‘Journal’ Option along with the Credits serving as a Epilogue, the only way those ‘main’ questions can be answered is if a Prequel is made that is set in the Four Years gap between Resistance 2 and 3 otherwise there’d be no point of making another sequel that kicks off after this once, unless they do something that takes place at the same time as 3 as well.

CONCLUSION

What Resistance 3 does so well is add in elements from all its games into one, creating a perfect balance of story, gaming and other elements that make this game worth playing more than once. These consist from the Weapon Wheel making a return along with newer weapons that making killing enemies more brutal and fun.

Capelli is more rounded out and developed than Hale was thus giving us a character that we care for and also is a game that is not afraid to get dark when it wants to while adding in a few twist and turns here and there that keep the tension, horror, action and atmosphere of the game high up.

Overall Resistance 3 manages to stray somewhat away from its Gameplay flaws of its originals but unlike its originals fails to deliver on the epic final that this game should do. Considering that New York is meant to be the Main location for this entry not much is done with it.

Nevertheless,  the fun factor of co-op returning in the campaign gives it that replay edge. But the lack of a better more improved version of Resistance 2’s Multiplayer along with the flaws already mentioned don’t make this the top game it could have been. But the game succeeds in delivering a darker experience than the other ones and is still an enjoyable game that delivers on the fun and somewhat liner story.

Overall rating….8.5/10

Likes:

  • Campaign Mode is darker then is previous sequel.
  • Returns to what made Resistance 1 a good game.
  • Brings in elements of both its Predecessors into one fine experience.
  • Loved playing as Joe Capelli.
  • The Homage’s to Half-Life 2 the game borrows elements from.
  • The Weapons and Upgrading System.
  • Trophies are piss easy to get. (The Irony. Both Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are somewhat downright impossible to Plantium where as Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 is the total opposite.)
  • Paul Eiding was a nice surprise.
  • So was ‘General’ Cartwright’s little cameo during the beginning stages of the game. Keep an eye out for it.
  • Credit Sequence was a nice way of saying the storyline was over.

Hates:

  • Lack of a Final Boss and Epic Final to the game.
  • Ending was too happy going for my tastes and too short.
  • Some Characters needed more development.
  • The whole of the New York Level should have been better developed.
  • No Vehicle Sections in this. (Would’ve loved to drive from the Stature of Liberty to New York City on the Frozen Lake.)
  • Some questions are left unanswered.
  • Superhuman Mode takes the piss.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 (MY ALTERNATIVE ENDING)

My version of the ending and how it should have been done. All I did was combine the books final and the films together but ending it like the book in the Great Hall with everyone to witness the death of Voldemort.

Alternative Ending:

EXT. HOGWARTS, COURTYARD – MORNING

After Neville finishes his speech towards Voldemort and his Death Eaters he pulls out the Sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat.

Voldemort is caught by surprise as are the Death Eaters and the Students and Fighters of Hogwarts as Neville rushes towards Voldemort.

BELLATRIX
(Surprised)
NO!!!

Bellatrix shoots a spell at Neville but he DEFLECTS it with the Sword and the spell instead hits a group of crowded Death Eaters who go flying backwards along with Bellatrix who becomes slightly wounded.

Neville raises the sword for the kill but Voldemort reacts fast and shoots Neville away from him. Neville as if been protected by an invisible shield is pushed back and away from Voldemort and falls to the floor.

Hogwarts guardians look on in awe as Voldemort raises the Elder Wand for the kill, aiming it at Neville.

VOLDEMORT
(Angry)
ENOUGH! This ends now!

Voldemort raises his wand but at that moment Harry opens his eyes and jumps off Hagrid while holding on tightly onto his wand and rushing between him and Neville.

HARRY
You’re right about that!

Voldemort looks on in shock as do all his Death Eaters including the Fighters and Students of Hogwarts who are in complete and utter shock.

GOOD GUYS
HARRY!?...He’s alive!...Harry’s alive.

Harry aims his wand at Voldemort who stands shocked as Nagini moves towards her master.

HARRY
Nobody try and help. This is between me and him.
(To Voldemort)
Neither can live while the other survives, and one of us is about leave for good.

VOLDEMORT
(Laughs/Hisses)
One of us? You think it will be you, do you, the boy who has survived by accident?

HARRY
Accident, was it, when my mother died to save me? Accident, when I decided to fight in that graveyard? Accident, that I didn’t defend myself tonight, and still survived, and returned to fight again?

VOLDEMORT
(Angry/Hisses)
Accidents!!!

Voldemort casts Avada Kedavra (The Killing Curse) towards Harry but Harry casts back with Expelliarmus. Their spells collide and connect and a beam of lighting is formed between them.

Everyone surrounding the courtyard watches in awe. The lighting battle brightening the courtyard. Voldemort stands his ground as does Harry.

HARRY
You don’t learn from your mistakes, Riddle, do you?

VOLDEMORT
You dare...

HARRY
Yes, I dare!

Harry moves his wand arm slightly away and the Beam of Lighting cuts across the courtyard before Harry cuts the beam completely away.

Voldemort is stunned as is the audience around them watching. Voldemort aims his wand at Harry who also does the same and they begin circling each other.

HARRY
I know things you don’t know Tom. Want to hear some, before you make another big mistake?

They continue circling each other, wands at the ready. Voldemort moving around. Nagini watches and hisses.

VOLDEMORT
(Laughs)
Let me guess…is it Love again? Dumbledore’s favourite solution to everything…or…is it perhaps you believe that you have magic that I do not, or else a weapon more powerful than mine?

HARRY
               I believe both.

VOLDEMORT
(Stunned/Angry)
You think you know more magic than I do? Than I, Lord Voldemort, who has performed magic that Albus Dumdledore himself never dreamed of?

HARRY
NO! He knew enough not to do what you’ve done! He was clever than you, a better Wizard, a better man!!!

Voldemort angrily casts spells at Harry who tries blocking the spells. The ones that do appear to get through don’t seem to hurt Harry at all and instead push him back.

Voldemort in rage casts a EXPLOSIVE spell that hits the ground near Harry sending him crashing to floor.

Harry in return casts a spell (Sectumsempra) at Voldemort where a bit of his robe gets cut off and Voldemort drops on his injured knee.

Voldemort looks down at his wound and wipes off traces of blood from it and stares at it in shock. He stares back at Harry who struggles slightly to get back up.

Nagini hisses close-by as she slithers towards Voldemort. The Death Eaters watch in horror and surprise. One of the Death Eaters moves towards his wounded Master.

DEATH EATER
(Concerned)
My lord?

Voldemort doesn’t even stare at him as he raises his word and AKs him. The Death Eater drops back dead.

The surrounding Death Eaters watch in horror and look around at each other in concern. They back away from the battle taking place. The Malfoys watch from behind the group.

Voldemort looks back at his followers and watches their faces of realization on some of their faces while others look on for guidance and awaiting orders.

HARRY
You’re nothing Tom Riddle but a shell of a man!

VOLDEMORT
SILENCE!!!

HARRY
EVERYONE HERE HAS SEEN THE REAL YOU! And those who haven’t will eventually realize the truth…just like Dumbledore did…

VOLDEMORT
I brought about the death of Albus Dumbledore!

Harry gets up and struggles as he steadies himself while continuing to look at Voldemort and talk.

HARRY
Yes, Dumbledore’s dead. But he arranged his own manner of dying months ago with the man you thought was your servant.

Harry now speaks out to the whole crowd of people watching.

HARRY (CONT’D)
Severus Snape wasn’t yours. He was Dumbledore’s. You never saw Snape cast a Patronus, did you, Riddle? It was a doe, the same as my mother’s, because he loved her for nearly all his life, from the time when they were children.
(Pause)
He was Dumbledore’s spy from the moment you threatened her, and he’s been working against you ever since.

Those listening have surprised and shocked looks on their faces at this new revelation. The Resistance looks shocked even more. Ron and Hermione seem surprised.

VOLDEMORT
(Angry)
It matters not! I crushed them as I crushed your mother, Snape’s supposed great love! I killed them…just like I will kill you…Harry potter!

And with that he casts the AK curse again. Harry expects it and raises his wand, the beams colliding once more and the lighting battle continuing once more.

Voldemort struggles with the Wand as he pushes forward his side of the beam towards Harry. However Harry grips his wand with both hands and determined he begins moving forward step by step, concentrating the beam and focusing it on Voldemort.

Voldemort screams as does Harry and Harry begins running while still focusing the beam. Voldemort panics and in a hurry stands up himself while moving forward as well.

CUT TO:

The centre of where their spells has connected becomes too powerful to contain and EXPLODES.

Voldemort is knocked down as Harry flies backwards from the shock of the explosive.

The explosive itself rockets into the morning sky, a brilliant colour of golden flames erupting above the courtyard for everyone around the area and Forbidden Forest to see it. Sparks fly high above as debris of flames from the explosive shoot down lighting whatever it touches on fire.

CUT TO:

Voldemort regains himself to see Harry alive who firmly grasps hold of his wand. He sees the Snake unprotected and quickly struggles up and fires the Green AK curse at it.

The curse hits the Snake but it backfires towards Bellatrix who dodges it and the spell hits the ground near another formed crowd of Death Eaters who fly back from the shock of the explosive.

Voldemort shoots a wall of fire at Harry who dodges into the Courtyard corridor. Harry runs as Voldemort sends a volley of fire through it. Harry jumps out as the corridor area explodes into rubble.

Voldemort screams as he rushes towards Harry who makes it to the Great Hall Entrance to join up with Ron, Hermione and the others.

Voldemort fires spells at them but Kingsley and McGonagall step forward and use shield charms to stop the spells from hitting them. They fight back as Slughore joins in and gives cover for them.

HARRY
(To his friends)
The Snake…we have to kill it, no matter what!

Neville hears this and grasps the Sword.

NEVILLE
I’m on it!

Neville rushes forward yet again.

HARRY
Neville, No!!!

Too late, Neville runs for the Snake raising his sword but Voldemort in great anger and rage blasts Neville away from him and Nagini and Neville goes flying backwards, right into the Great Hall.

Harry grabs a Basilisk fang and rushes off and away from Ron and Hermione. Ron tries following but Hermione pulls him back as spells from the Death Eaters start hitting them.

Harry runs down an open doorway and Voldemort gives chase by grabbing Nagini and apparating after him.

EXT. HOGWARTS, STONE BRIDGE – SAME TIME

Draco Malfoy and his mother cross the bridge as Lucius follows behind. He stops and takes one look back at the battle before running after his family.

EXT. HOGWARTS, GREAT HALL ENTRANCE – SAME TIME

Ron and Hermione cover behind the fighters. She puts a Basilisk Fang into Ron’s hand who is looking worried and panicked.

HERMIONE
The Snake Ron!

Ron grasps it and nods and both run away from the cover of fire with Ron shielding Hermione and firing off spells as they head into the doorway after Harry.

CUT TO:

Hagrid knocking several Death Eaters away in a great and terrible mood. He knocks another several over the Stone bridge as he charges after them. They fire jinxes at him but they won’t stop him.

Death Eater YAXLEY appears and prepares to AK Hagrid when a ARROW strikes him right in the chest and he falls off the bridge.

Hagrid looks up to see volleys of Arrows sail down and striking down Death Eaters who don’t manage to apparate away in time. Hagrid watches as bow carrying Centaurs comes running across the bridge firing off their arrows.

CUT TO:

Some of the Death Eaters flee while others are hit and killed and others loyal to Voldemort apparate towards the Great Hall as Kingsley and McGonagall rush inside deflecting away the jinxes aimed at them.

INT. HOGWARTS, CORRIDOR – SAME TIME

Harry rushes through the ruined corridors and trips slightly and quickly turns around and blasts away a wall but nothing is there. Harry panics and continues running.

Voldemort and Nagini apparate into the corridor and Voldemort searches for Harry. Harry hides behind a wall and grips both his Wand and Fang tightly.

VOLDEMORT
Come out Harry…come out so that I may stamp you out like a cockroach just like your dear mudblood mother.

Voldemort stops and searches and sniffs the air as Nagini moves behind him.

VOLDEMORT
Nobody seems to love you enough to run forward this time and shield you. So what will stop you dying now when I strike? Hmmm…

HARRY
(Shouts)
               Just one thing!

Harry comes out from cover and shoots down towards Voldemort who blocks the curse. Harry shoots again but Voldemort continues blocking the spells until he fires one at the staircase Harry stands on.

Dust and smoke fill Harry’s vision as he raises his arms to shield his glasses and eyes.

Voldemort attacks with AK curses but again they do nothing to Harry and he is instead been pushed back as if by an invisible shield.

Harry fires off towards Voldemort who apparates away and behind Harry. Harry turns to face him fast and again they raise their wands and again the spells connect creating a beam.

Nagini hisses behind Harry as she slithers towards Harry and raises up, exposing her many teeth, readying to strike.

Harry sees this and using his strength he pushes the beam upwards towards the ceiling and breaks it apart. The ceiling falls down and between Harry and Voldemort.

Harry turns around to face Nagini and raises the Fang and rushes at her but then the floor beneath Harry breaks away and Harry grabs onto the edge of the broken away staircase.

He watches as Nagini moves towards him and attacks. Harry lets go just in time as Nagini was inches away from his face and Harry drops down onto the staircase below him. He also drops the Fang. He goes to retrieve it but Voldemort destroys it from above another staircase.

Harry looks at him before rushing off as Voldemort casts a spell that blows the staircase that Harry is on away. Harry jumps in the nick of time and runs into another doorway.

Voldemort apparates after him, following in a great smoke form.

CUT TO:

Nagini goes to follow when a rock hits her head. She turns to see Hermione standing there at the bottom of the staircase. She throws another rock at Nagini and Nagini hisses in anger and starts slithering towards her.

CUT TO:

INT. HOGWARTS, GREAT HALL – SAME TIME

EYES SNAP OPEN and look up at the destroyed Enchanted Great Hall ceiling. Neville stands up as behind him the Resistance and Death Eaters battle.

Neville’s Eyes wonder around the chaos.

Hagrid next to the entrance, picking a Death Eater up and throwing him into another while screaming in fury.
Eyes continuing wondering.

Aberforth casting various spells at Death Eaters. Slughorn shielding himself.

Neville continues turning his head, observing, watching.

Professor Trelawny throws a CRYSTAL BALL right into the head of a Death Eater who collapses in pain. The Patil Twins standing by her side, shielding her.

Neville looks behind him where the back of the Hall has more action going on.

Death Eaters screaming, cursing jinxes, fire burning, students flying backwards, Teachers trying to hold their ground.

CUT TO:

MOLLY
(Angry)
NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!!!

Bill and Percy recover and join Arthur and George but Molly holds out her free hand to stop them.

MOLLY
NO! Get back! She is mine!

Molly starts duelling and forces a laughing and insane Bellatrix to walk back, deflecting and blocking.

BELLATRIX
What will happen to your children when I’ve killed you?

Bellatrix laughs before casting a spell. Molly blocks it but stumbles slightly. Bellatrix casts away but Molly blocks.

Bellatrix moves forward shooting at her but Molly continues blocking but is been pushed back towards her family.

BELLATRIX
(Laughs insanely)
When Mommy is gone the way as Freddie?

Molly, her face full of anger and hate pulls back her wand arm and brings it forward with force that shoots a spell right into Bellatrix’s heart and shatters away the ice completely while also breaking Bellatrix into several pieces.

INT. HOGWARTS, CLOCK TOWER AREA – SAME TIME

Harry holds onto his wand tightly but he is tied in Voldemort’s robes as he is brought face to face towards him.

VOLDEMORT
               Why do you live?

HARRY
Because I have something worth fighting for.

VOLDEMORT
You truly believe you can kill me? But you have failed Harry and in ways that you do not understand.

Harry doesn’t struggle and instead looks right into Voldemort’s face.
VOLDEMORT (CONT’D)
Dumbledore was trying to keep the Elder Wand from me. But I understood the truth before you caught up. I killed Severus Snape and now, the Elder Wand is truly mine. Dumbledore’s last plan…went wrong…Harry Potter.

Harry just smiles at Voldemort while gripping his own Wand tightly.

HARRY
No, you’re wrong. Dumbledore’s last plan hasn’t backfired on me at all. It’s backfired on you, Riddle.

Voldemort in anger points the Elder Wand right into Harry’s face and casts the Killing Curse but instead a blast is caused and Harry is ripped from the robes holding him and he goes flying into a wall while Voldemort falls, loosing his grip on the Wand.

Voldemort notices his blacked hand and quickly searches for the Elder Wand and finds it. Harry gets up, hurt but alive and rushes towards Voldemort who picks up the Wand.

Voldemort turns to face Harry just as he slams into him but Voldemort grabs hold of Harry and throws into the wall face first instead.

Harry falls to the floor and Voldemort tries cursing Harry again. Nothing happens, almost as if a shield is blocking the curse from touching him.

Voldemort SCREAMS WITH FURY and starts kicking Harry who tries getting back up. Harry tries crawling away but Voldemort assaults him with kicks to his body and face.

RON
(Worried/Scared)
HERMIONE!!!

Nagini rises between Ron and Hermione and hisses. It strikes at Ron but he dodges the strike and jumps himself over Nagini and towards Hermione.

He grabs her and pulls her up as Nagini turns around to face them, hissing. Hermione looks terrified as she grabs Ron for support and both of them move down the staircase as Nagini begins following them.

HARRY
That wand still isn’t working properly for you is it?

Voldemort kicks him in the face but Harry recovers and continues talking.

HARRY (CONT’D)
Snape was never the true master of the Elder Wand…

As Harry gets up Voldemort grabs him by the throat and pins him against a wall before smacking him across the face and back to the floor.

HARRY (CONT’D)
               He never defeated Dumbledore…

VOLDEMORT
               He killed…

HARRY (CONT’D)
You still don’t get it, do you?

Harry is crawling away from Voldemort who follows him.

HARRY
The Elder Wand recognised a new master before Dumbledore died, someone who never even laid a hand on it.

Harry reaches a wall and pulls himself up to face Voldemort. Voldemort tries cursing Harry again but Harry is pushed back outside on the Clock Tower balcony.

Harry steps towards the balcony edge as Voldemort reaches him. Harry looks him in the eyes.

HARRY
So you see, you’ve failed already.
(Pause)
Come on Tom…let’s finish this the way we started it…TOGETHER!

Harry grabs Voldemort and pulls them both off the balcony and down the cliff.

CUT TO:

They become a cloud of black smoke that flies through the air and up from the abyss back towards Hogwarts.

They cross under the stone bridge and up around the many towers before heading quickly back down.

Voldemort tries to force Harry off, clawing at his head but Harry holds on tightly, both screaming.

They continue flying and crash through a tower roof and go down around the buildings and into the roof of another, grazing upon it and continuing to fly through until reaching what is the Great Hall and crashing through its roof and into the battle wore area.

Ginny tries to move towards Harry but Molly holds her back and they continue watching.

Both Harry and Voldemort let out signs of breath they get on their bellies and look at each other and their wands in front of them.

Harry crawls towards his wand fast as does Voldemort. They both grab their wands and casting another look at one another they fire away.

Their spells collide once more, brightening now the Great Hall. Everyone backs away from the lighting beam been formed.

INT. HOGWARTS, CORRIDOR – SAME TIME

Nagini comes close and prepares to jump at them. Ron shields Hermione with his body and looks away while both close their eyes just as Nagini jumps towards them, jaws open and teeth exposed.

Suddenly Neville jumps between Ron, Hermione and Nagini and raises the Sword at the same time in quick swiftness. Nagini too late to react or cover and already in midair has her head sliced off.

The head and body drop towards the floor but then turn to dust as black smoke erupts from it and rises high into the air and in front of Neville and Voldemort’s face comes out of it. It SCREAMS.

Neville covers his face as Ron and Hermione cry in each other arms, happy to be alive.

The SCREAM erupts high and mighty and all around Hogwarts for all to hear.

INT. HOGWARTS, GREAT HALL – SAME TIME

The lighting beam ceases and Voldemort stops as he listens and feels his last horcrux destroyed.

Everyone in the room also hears the scream as does Harry and he smiles while continuing to stare at Voldemort who sheds tears.

HARRY
No more Horcruxes, Tom. It’s just you and me now.

Voldemort stares at Harry and Laughs. An Insane laugh that rings out through the entire Hall.

Harry grips his wand.

Everyone watches, aware, waiting.

Voldemort continues laughing until finally raising his wand at the same time as Harry and shouting.

VOLDEMORT
               AVADA KEDAVRA!!!

HARRY
               EXPELLIARMUS!!!

Their spells collide again but this time Harry’s spell Expelliarmus pushes back Voldemort’s Avada Kedavra straight back towards him.

Voldemort pushes forward his wand arm, which is turning dead black, the Elder Wand glowing green and poisoning Voldemort without him realizing it.

Harry holds onto his wand and grips it now with both hands before standing up and pushing his spell forward.

Voldemort screams in fury and realization as his spell is sent back into him and the aura of Avada Kedavra engulfs him while Expelliarmus hits the Elder Wand and knocks it out of Voldemort’s dead hand and sends it flying over towards Harry who reaches out his free hand and catches it.

Harry looks back at Voldemort and watches along with everybody else in the room. The surviving Death Eaters are horrified.

Voldemort’s skin slowly turns to dead black as his vines emit a green colour, the curse of Avada Kedavra spreading through his body fast, poisoning and killing him.

Voldemort tries saying something but instead gurgles and starts choking as his skin and robes slowly turn to dust and rip from his body.

People come towards him and pat him on the back. Harry nods at them all as he walks through the crowd with Ginny in his arms until he spots Ron and Hermione. Ginny lets him go and he walks over to them.

They stare at one another, tears in their eyes and all three hug each other, tightly, before letting go.

HARRY
               You did it…

HERMIONE
(Shakes head)
               Neville did it.

Harry stares at her before staring at Neville who lifts the sword up to show him. Harry realizes what happened and smiles as he pats Neville on the shoulder.

HARRY
               Well done…

Neville nods and walks slightly back to give Harry room with Ron and Hermione.

Everyone continues cheering and scream out before they get to finally screaming Harry’s name. ‘HARRY! HARRY! HARRY!’

Harry nods at them and smiles while been supported by Ginny, Ron and Hermione.

Everyone claps, cheers, shouts and the Camera zooms out from the Great Hall roof to show the corpse ridden Courtyard with Centaurs patrolling outside and standing guard by the stone bridge and the flames subsiding from the destroyed towers and the SUN RISING FULLY INTO A NEW MORNING.

Rest of the film continues on from here…

Wow, about 21 Pages long. Didn't expect that. Was aiming for 10 lol.

Well this was my Alternative Ending of the film. 10 Years we waited for the epic final and to be honest it was a let down. There was no emotion in the final battle, no tension, no celebration of any sorts. The film was good but not great. It lacked alot of things.

This is how I would’ve done it personally.

Hope you enjoyed it. I apologize for any errors in gammer and spelling. Take Care.
